FAQ — Most common questions

Power supply, costs, winter, chemicals, installation, and warranty — answers to the 20 most common questions about hot tubs.

What is the difference between 13A and 32A power supply?

13A is a standard domestic socket with a plug — no additional installation required, but slower water heating. 32A requires a dedicated circuit installed by an electrician (single- or three-phase, depending on the model and your installation), but it heats faster and supports all functions simultaneously at full power.

Can I start with 13A and switch to 32A later?

Yes, in most models, changing the power supply is simply a matter of connecting a different cable and fuse on the electrical installation side, rather than replacing the hot tub. Please confirm this for your specific model when requesting a quote — some controllers require the power mode to be set by a service technician.

Do I need permission or an electrical inspection for a 32A power supply?

A 32A installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with Polish regulations (including the requirement for a residual current device). This is not an administrative approval, but an inspection by an electrician is recommended before the first start-up. If your building's connection capacity is low, the electrician may also determine that it needs to be increased by the utility provider — it is worth checking this before placing an order.

Can a hot tub be connected to an extension lead?

No. Both 13A and 32A connections require a permanent, direct connection to the electrical installation in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Using extension leads poses a risk of overheating and will void the warranty.

What is the monthly cost of running a hot tub?

Roughly: a 3 kW heater running for an average of 4 hours a day at an electricity price of £0.90/kWh (assumption, please check your tariff) equates to approximately 3 kW × 4 h × 30 days × £0.90 ≈ £324 per month during peak winter. With a well-insulated tub and a thermal cover, actual consumption is often lower because the heater does not run continuously — this is an upper estimate, not a guarantee.

Does electricity consumption differ between summer and winter?

Yes, significantly. In summer, the heater runs less frequently (due to the smaller temperature difference), while in winter it runs more often and for longer. Exact consumption depends on the model, insulation, ambient temperature, and the set water temperature — see question 5 for the estimation method.

Are there any additional running costs apart from electricity?

Yes: water care chemicals (see questions 11–14), periodic filter cartridge replacement, and occasional replacement of consumable parts (e.g., seals) every few years. These costs are significantly lower than your electricity bill.

Is a Ther hot tub suitable for winter use?

Yes, models with full insulation and a thermal cover are designed for year-round use, including sub-zero temperatures — provided they remain continuously powered (the hot tub should not be unplugged during winter).

What happens if the power goes out in winter?

During a short power cut, the water usually won’t freeze in time thanks to the insulation and cover. For longer outages (several hours or more, with temperatures below -10°C), we recommend contacting our service team to secure the installation against freezing.

Do I need to drain the hot tub for winter?

No, provided the hot tub is used regularly and remains permanently connected to the mains — the heating and circulation systems prevent freezing. Draining the water is only necessary for extended seasonal storage; in such cases, please consult the service team on the correct procedure to avoid damaging the installation.

What chemicals should be used for water maintenance?

Standardly: chlorine or bromine as a disinfectant, a pH regulator, and periodic oxygen or chlorine shock treatments. The exact range of products and dosages depend on the water volume of your model (see the specifications table on the model page).

How often should the water be changed?

Typically every 3–4 months with regular chemical maintenance and filtration, or more frequently with intensive use (frequent bathing, large number of users). Cloudy water or a persistent chlorine smell despite correct dosing is a sign that the water needs to be changed sooner.

How often should pH and disinfection levels be checked?

Recommended 2–3 times a week during use, using test strips or an electronic meter. The correct pH range is usually 7.2–7.6 — staying within this range protects seals and users' skin.

Does the filter need cleaning, and how often should the cartridge be replaced?

It is worth rinsing the filter with running water once a week, and replacing the entire cartridge usually every 1–4 months depending on the intensity of use — the exact interval is specified in the instruction manual for the given model.

How to prepare the base before installation?

The hot tub requires a level, load-bearing surface (e.g., a concrete slab or reinforced terrace) capable of supporting the weight of the full tub with water and users — see 'full weight' in the model specification table. Full checklist: `/dostawa-i-montaz/`.

Is installation included in the price?

Yes, delivery and basic installation (positioning, connection, and initial start-up) are part of Ther's standard offer. The exact scope is confirmed during the quote stage, depending on access to the installation site.

Will the hot tub fit through a standard gate or gate?

This depends on the model's dimensions (see the specifications table) and the width of the entrance to your property. When preparing a quote, our advisor will ask for approximate access dimensions to plan the delivery route and any necessary auxiliary equipment.

What does the Polish warranty cover?

The warranty covers manufacturing defects in the structure, electrical installation, and hydraulics. The detailed scope and warranty period are specified for each model and in the warranty document included with your order. Full details: `/gwarancja-i-serwis/`.

How do I report a fault under warranty?

Via the contact form on `/kontakt/` or by phone to the service department — your request is handled by our Polish service team, with no need to contact the overseas manufacturer.

Is after-warranty service also available in Poland?

Yes — our service and spare parts warehouse operate in Poland regardless of whether the unit is still under warranty or not. The same service team prepares quotes for out-of-warranty repairs.
